Freight Victoria

Freight Victoria has been established to coordinate the development of an efficient freight and logistics system through the delivery of the Victorian Freight Plan: Delivering the Goods, Navigating our Port Futures: The Victorian Commercial Ports Strategy, Moving More With Less: High Productivity Freight Vehicle Plan, and the Sustainable Local Ports Framework.

Victorian Freight Plan: Delivering the Goods

As the central point of contact for the freight and logistics industry, local government and primary producers, Freight Victoria develops freight policy and implements the key actions in the Victorian Freight Plan: Delivering the Goods.

Delivering the Goods sets out short, medium and long-term priorities to support our freight and logistics system through this period of unprecedented growth and rapid change in the broader environment, while allowing us to embrace new opportunities in the future.

It outlines the initiatives we will take over the next five years to improve how we move goods to their local, interstate and overseas markets.

The plan also provides a long-term blueprint to guide investment in the freight network and further strengthen the state's freight advantage.

Updating the Victorian Freight Plan

Since 2018 when we launched the Victorian Freight Plan, Delivering the Goods, we’ve boosted the volume, mass and speed of freight carried on Victoria’s freight network, at a time when the context for freight has changed.

To guide feedback on the updating of the Victorian Freight Plan, Freight Victoria has been engaging with industry to better understand key issues, identify priorities for action, and discuss how we should measure success.

Updating the Plan will position the freight sector to meet Victoria’s future challenges and provide the state with a clear and productive roadmap for Victoria’s freight system.

All input received during the engagement period will be considered in the drafting of the updated Freight Plan, with advice to be provided to government for consideration in late 2024.

For more information about the updating of the Victorian Freight Plan, visit Engage Victoria or email freightvictoria@transport.vic.gov.au.
