Nightly closure of the Williamson, Hampstead and Wests roads intersection

We’re building a new tram maintenance and stabling facility for Melbourne’s new next-generation G Class trams on part of the 61 – 71 Hampstead Road site in Maidstone. The accessible, comfortable, and energy-efficient next-generation G Class trams will start testing on the network from 2025. The new trams will service routes 57, 59 and 82.

When:

  • From 9pm to 5am each night from Monday 17 June to Thursday 20 June 2024

Location:

  • Williamson, Hampstead and Wests roads intersection closure

Works description:

  • Underground water pipe connection

What we’re doing

Connecting underground water main pipes to existing services throughout the intersection.

Where and when we’ll be working

We’ll be working in the intersection of Williamson, Hampstead, and Wests roads. All works will be done at night from 9pm to 5am. The intersection will be reopened each day.

What to expect

  • Noise and vibration
  • Additional lighting for night works
  • Construction vehicles and machinery
  • Traffic management and detour signage for motorist and pedestrians
  • Vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained to homes at all times

Changes to the way you travel

Please follow reduced speed limits, detour signage and the direction of traffic controllers for your safety. Temporary detours are shown on the map below.
