The history of Scarsdale Primary School
1871
Scarsdale School opened as a common school in 1871.
The first head teacher was John Lamont.
The school was built between the two townships of Scarsdale and Newtown.
It was big enough for 500 students.
1870s
The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.
1970
The school was renamed Scarsdale Primary School in 1970.
1994
Scarsdale Primary School was closed in 1994 when it combined with other schools to form Woady Yaloak Primary School (No. 5440).
The schools that combined were:
- Ross Creek (No. 803)
- Smythesdale Primary School (No. 978)
- Scarsdale Primary School (No. 980)
- Snake Valley Primary School (No. 574)
