The history of Trunganina State School
1857
The school was opened by the Church of England. It was originally called Derrimut.
The first head teacher was Samuel Hayes.
1858
The average number of students was 23 (12 boys and 11 girls).
1863
The school became a common school under the Board of Education.
The school consisted of a stone schoolhouse accommodating 60 students, and a five-room brick or stone house.
1873
The school became a state school under the Department of Education.
1877
The name of the school changed to Truganina State School.
1968
The school was destroyed when fires swept through the district in January 1968.
