The history of Tallarook Flat State School

  • 1867

Tallarook Flat opened as a common school in 1867.

The first head teacher was William E. Lewis.

There were over 50 students who went to the school.

Classes were held at the local railway station.

  • 1870s

The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

  • 1888

Because student numbers were low, the school became part-time with Trawool State School (No. 2700). It shared its only teacher with Trawool and the teacher split their time between both schools.

  • 1892

Tallarook Flat State School was closed in 1892.
