1858
The school, originally known as Caledonia, was opened by the Church of England in 1858.

It was already locally known as St Andrews.

Gold mining had declined, and a more settled community of fruit growers and farmers had taken over.
The average number of students was between 20 and 30.
Part of the wooden building was used as the teacher's house.
1930s
A section of the school building became the infant room in the 1930s.
