The history of Sorrento Primary School
1870s
Sorrento opened as a common school in 1871. The first head teacher was W.R. Sheppard and 31 students were enrolled. There was a Church of England school in the area between 1855 and 1861. The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.
1890
A new school building opened in 1890. The old school building was used as the teacher's residence.
