The history of Rosedale Primary School

  • 1865

    Rosedale opened as a common school in 1865. The first head teacher was John A. Gregory. A school was open from 1863 but was only recognised as a common school in 1865.

  • 1870s

    A new brick school building opened in 1871.

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

  • 1910s

    A weatherboard building was added around 1914-15. Two classrooms, staff rooms and storeroom were added in 1961.

  • 1965

    Two classrooms were added in 1965.

  • 1970

    The school was renamed Rosedale Primary School in 1970.

  • 2022

    Rosedale Primary School is still in operation.
