The history of Redesdale North School

  • 1869

Redesdale North opened as a common school in 1869. The first head teacher was Edmund O'Grady.

It was located around 5 km north of the township of Redesdale.

  • 1870s

The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

The school closed in 1877 because many of the local children were going to privately run schools.

  • 1918

The school reopened in 1918. A timber schoolhouse was moved from Shepherd's Creek School (No. 2447) to replace the old Redesdale North schoolhouse.

  • 1961

Redesdale North State School closed in 1961. The last head teacher was W. Schofield.
