The history of Parwan State School

  • 1868

Parwan opened as a common school in 1868.

The first head teacher was Robert Boyle.

Before Parwan opened, Robert Boyle had been teaching around 40 students in a crowded vacant house. They had to use boxes, slabs of timber and bricks as desks and chairs.

A brick schoolhouse was built and included rooms for the head teacher to live in.

  • 1870s

The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

  • 1930

Parwan State School closed in 1930.
