The history of Nunawading State School

  • 1861

    Nunawading opened in 1861.

    The first head teacher was Samuel Stephens.

  • 1862

    The school became a common school in 1862.

  • 1870s

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

  • 1892

    Nunawading became an adjunct to Box Hill State School (No. 2838). This meant that the students went to Box Hill for their classes.

  • 1894

    Nunawading State School closed in 1894.
