The history of Maryborough Primary School
1862
Maryborough became a common school in 1862.
There were many schools operating in the area from 1855.
1870s
Maryborough (No. 404) became a state school in the 1870s. It merged with Maryborough State School (No. 411) in 1874.
The head teacher at the time was John Gardiner.
A new school building was erected in 1874.
The foundation stone was laid by the Minister of Public Instruction, J.W Stephen.
William H. Cox became head teacher in 1878.
1885
James L. Wilcox became head teacher in 1885.
He was followed by Robert Camm.
1920s
Three classrooms were added.

A library building was finished. It was opened by the Hon. J.F Rossiter, Assistant Minister of Education.
2005
Maryborough closed when multiple schools in the area merged to become Maryborough Education Centre.
These schools included:
- Maryborough East Primary School (No. 2828)
- Maryborough Specialist School (No. 5250)
- Maryborough Regional College (No. 8825)
Maryborough Education Centre is still in operation.
