The history of Learmonth Primary School
1859
Learmonth School opened in 1859.
The first head teacher was Jonas Horsfall.
1860
Classes were held in the local church.
1862
The school became a common school in 1862.
A new school building opened. It had stone foundations, brick walls and a shingle roof.
1863
The head teacher in 1863 was Simon Morrison and his wife was Sewing Mistress.
1873
The school became a state school in 1873.
1970
The school was renamed Learmonth Primary School in 1970.
2013
Learmonth Primary School closed in 2013.
