The history of Lal Lal Primary School

  • 1866

Lal Lal opened as a common school in 1866. The first head teacher was Dugald McRae. There was a school that opened in February of that year but it was considered too small. A new school building was built instead of using this building.

  • 1870s

The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1875.

A new brick school building opened in 1875 and could accommodate 72 students.

  • 1970

The school was renamed Lal Lal Primary School in 1970.

  • 1991

The creek that ran across the school yard was filled in 1991 and replaced with an oval.

  • 1992

Two classrooms were added in 1992 alongside a sports storage area and a cleaner's storeroom.

  • 2022

Lal Lal Primary School is still in operation.
