Kangaroo Flat opened as a common school in 1870. It replaced No. 354 and No. 363.
221 students were enrolled and the average attendance was 123.
1873
The school became a state school in 1873.
1878
In 1878 the school was located on Chapel Street. There was a stone building for 120 students and a wood building that could accommodate the same number.
1953
The school moved to a new site on Camp Street. The old school building became Bendigo Special School (No. 4782). The new site had six classrooms with central heating.
1970
The school was renamed Kangaroo Flat Primary School in 1970.

Kangaroo Flat Primary School is still in operation.
