The history of Greenvale Primary School
1868
Greenvale opened as a common school in 1868. The first head teacher was George R. Hancock. A brick school building was built.
1869
The school site was expanded to 3 acres in 1869.
1870s
Two classrooms were added in 1870 along with a veranda on three sides of the building. The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.
1926
The school and teacher's residence were renovated in 1926.
1955
A new teacher's residence was added in 1955.
1962
Fire completely destroyed the school, furniture and records in 1962. Classes were held in the Methodist Church at this time. A school building from Sunshine was moved to the school.
1968
The school commemorated its 100th anniversary in 1968.
1970
The school was renamed Greenvale Primary School in 1970.
1988
The school site was relocated from Bulla Road to its present site on Bradford Avenue.
2018
The school marked its 150th anniversary in 2018.
2020
The school enrolment had grown from 178 (1988) to its peak of 823 (2020) due to development in the area.
2022
Greenvale Primary School is still in operation.
