The history of Glenlyon Primary School
1860s
Glenlyon opened in 1861. It became a common school in the 1860s.
The school was situated in the gold mining area of Glenlyon, northeast of Daylesford.
The first head teacher was Herbert Packe and the average attendance at the time was 24. The school was a single-room brick building.
1969
Enrolment dropped to 12.
1993
The school closed due to low enrolment numbers in 1993.
The old school building on Barkly Street is now heritage listed.
