The history of Duck Ponds State School

  • 1855

Duck Ponds was opened by the Church of England as a common school.

It was located near the entrance of the You Yangs Reserve.

The first head teacher was John. H. Murphy. Duck Ponds was an early name for Lara, a suburb in Geelong.

  • 1865

    James Tydeman became head teacher.

  • 1878

The school closed to make way for Flinders Peak State School (No. 2107), which opened on the same site. James Tydeman became the head teacher of the new school.
