The history of Doreen Primary School
1868
The school opened as a common school in 1868. When it opened it was called Hazel Glen School. The first head teacher was Angus Smith.
1873
The school became a state school in 1873.
1877
The average number of students going to school was 27 in 1877.
1884
The original schoolhouse was replaced.
1894
The schoolhouse was moved to a new site. It reopened in 1895.
1905
The schoolgrounds were made bigger.
1906
The school building from Woodstock State School (No.1675) was moved to Hazel Glen. The Hazel Glen schoolhouse was turned into a five-room house for the teacher.
1912
The schoolgrounds were made bigger again.
1923
The school was renamed Doreen State School in 1923.
1950
The schoolgrounds around the school buildings and teacher's house were sealed with asphalt. Garden seats were added. The school also bought gym and playground equipment.
1970
The school was renamed Doreen Primary School in 1970.
1972
The number of students enrolled at the school was 15 in 1972.
2022
Doreen Primary School is still in operation.
