The history of Condah State School

  • 1870s

Condah opened as a common school in 1871.

The first teachers were Samuel Renfry and Helen Reidy.

The school became a state school at some stage in the 1870s.

  • 1952

Condah State School closed as part of the government's consolidation policy for rural schools.

Eight more primary schools in the region closed at the same time.

All the students moved to Heywood Consolidated School (No. 6225).

Note Branxholme South State School No. 906 was also known as Condah at some stage.
