The history of Campbelltown Primary School

  • 1869

    Campbelltown opened as a common school. The first head teacher was either Wilson or Anderson.

    There were between 50 and 60 students in attendance.

    The weatherboard school building was built by a local carpenter. It had a shingle roof. This was replaced by a galvanised iron roof.

  • 1870s

    A teacher's house was added in the 1870s. Average attendance increased to 70 in 1872.

  • 1970

    The name of the school changed to Campbelltown Primary School in 1970.

  • 1984

    The school closed in 1984.
