The history of Campbellfield Primary School
1846
Campbellfield opened in 1846 in a leased building. It is the oldest school on record. The first head teacher was Benjamin Perry.
1849
Campbellfield was the first school to receive state aid.
1851
Enrolment was 39 (20 girls and 19 boys).
1891
A single room brick school building opened on the west side of Sydney Road.
The school grounds included rock gardens, shrubs, trees and a pony paddock.
1961
The school moved to Augusta Avenue when the new Hume Highway was widened. The new school building had four-rooms.
There were 77 students enrolled.
1968
A portable classroom was added when enrolment increase to 204.
1970
The name of the school changed to Campbellfield Primary School in 1970.
1992
The school closed in 1992.
