The Family Violence Protection Act 2008 requires a 5-year Review of the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Framework.
The Review was conducted independently and looked at:
- whether MARAM reflects best practice of family violence risk assessment and risk management
- what changes may be needed.
It included a literature review and a review of MARAM in practice.
The Review included 225 stakeholders from 81 organisations. These included victim survivors, service providers, government departments and peak bodies.
The Review found that across all sectors, MARAM is considered a valuable resource. It supports a shared understanding of family violence, risk assessment and risk management practices. By improving the way we work, we can provide better support to the community.
The Review found opportunities for improvement and made 17 recommendations.
