Established in 2015, the Taskforce is convened by the Minister for Equality to ensure that the Victorian Government’s equality initiatives are underpinned by genuine community consultation.
LGBTIQA+ Taskforce membership
The LGBTIQA+ Taskforce is made up of community members who are appointed for two-year terms. The current Taskforce membership was announced by Harriet Shing MP, Minister for Equality in December 2023. The current term will expire at the end of 2025.
The Minister for Equality and Adam Bourne, Taskforce community member, are co-chairs of the Taskforce.

Working groups
The LGBTIQA+ Taskforce is supported in its work by the Health and Wellbeing Working Group and the Justice Working Group. Working group members are appointed by the Minister for Equality for two-year terms.
Health and Wellbeing Working Group
The Health and Wellbeing Working Group advises the Department of Health and supports the Taskforce on issues relating to:
- ageing and aged care
- alcohol and drugs
- health services
- mental health
- public health
- health promotion
- and other related matters.
