In response to Action 18 in the Victorian Skills Plan for 2023 into 2024(opens in a new window), the Victorian Skills Authority (VSA) is committed to supporting the development of applied research capacity and capability across all levels of the Victorian vocational education and training (VET) sector with a range of activities and partnerships in place.
Applied research can be embedded in high-quality vocational education to bring innovation to businesses and empower workers with new skills. It draws on established research methods(opens in a new window) to find practical, evidence-based solutions to real-world problems.
Conducting applied research and disseminating the findings is integral for championing innovation and supporting the commercialisation of productivity-enhancing ideas in both the VET sector and the economy as a whole. Applied research:
- is valued by employers
- benefits training organisations
- generates knowledge transfer to and among learners.
Through applied research, the vocational education system can help strengthen Victoria’s capacity and capability for innovation.
