Almost 2,000 Victorians attended the State Memorial Service to celebrate Frank’s life and his contributions to our state, the Geelong region and his beloved Geelong Football Club.
The service opened with a Welcome to Country by Wadawurrung traditional owner Corrina Eccles, accompanied by a Didgeridoo tribute performed by Norm Stanley.
Frank’s memory was honoured by the Acting Premier, the Honourable James Merlino, followed by tributes from family, friends and former colleagues including Mr Robert Costa, Mr Lindsay Fox AC, Mr Brian Cook and Father Kevin Dillon AM. Mr Tim McCallum sung the Australian National Anthem.
The service also commemorated Frank’s official induction as the Geelong Football Club’s 26th Legend. Frank became the first non-player to receive this honour and the medal was presented to his wife Shirley.
The Memorial Service concluded with a guard of honour formed by the Geelong Football Club, accompanied by a minute of silence which started and ended with the game siren followed by the Geelong Football Club song.
