Subject: Pre-accredited work experience and workplace-based training activities undertaken at an external workplace
Actions
- It is recommended that Learn Locals pause undertaking pre-accredited work experience and workplace-based training activities held at an external workplace until further advice is provided.
The ACFE Board’s work experience guidelines were developed to provide guidance for a group of pre-accredited students under supervision of a Learn Local trainer/teacher undertaking observational work experience.
It has come to the department’s attention that there may be significant insurance coverage risks for learners undertaking ACFE work experience or related activities at host employer premises.
Further, the existing the VMIA insurance purchased by the Board does not extend to Learn Locals or learners where work experience is undertaken at a third-party workplace (i.e. host employer) that is not under the immediate control of the Learn Local. This scenario introduces significant insurance coverage risks in regard personal injury or damage claims suffered by any learners undertaking work experience or training activities at employer premises.
In the meantime, you are encouraged to continue pre-accredited training where it does not occur at an external workplace.
Should you have any enquiries regarding this, please contact your regional office.
