On 14 May 2020, and in accordance with section 21 of the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal and improving Parliamentary Standards Act 2019 (Vic) (VIRTIPS Act), the Tribunal made the Remuneration bands for executives employed in public service bodies (Victoria) Determination No. 01/2020 (2020 Determination).
The Determination sets the framework for an executive's remuneration based on their relevant remuneration band.
In accordance with section 22 of the VIRTIPS Act, the Tribunal made further Determinations in 2021, 2022 and 2023, which provided for an annual adjustment to the values set in the 2020 Determination.
Information about the 2020 Determination and the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Annual Adjustment Determinations is set out below.
2020 Determination
In accordance with the VIRTIPS Act, the 2020 Determination set the value of remuneration bands for executives employed in the following public service bodies:
- departments
- Administrative Offices (AOs)
- the Victorian Public Sector Commission (VPSC).
The Determination also applied to public service body Heads, who are defined in the Public Administration Act 2024 (Vic) as:
- head of departments
- heads of Administrative Offices
- the Victorian Public Sector Commissioner.

Annual Adjustments
The Tribunal's 2021, 2022 and 2023 Annual Adjustment Determinations adjusted the values set in the 2020 Determination with effect from 1 July 2021, 1 July 2022 and 1 July 2023, respectively.

The Tribunal made an annual adjustment to the remuneration bands for executives employed in public service bodies, which took effect on 1 July 2021.
Annual Adjustment 2022 for executives employed in public service bodies
The Tribunal made an annual adjustment to the remuneration bands for executives employed in public service bodies, which took effect on 1 July 2022.
Annual Adjustment 2023 for executives employed in public service bodies
The Tribunal made an annual adjustment to the remuneration bands for executives employed in public service bodies, which took effect on 1 July 2023.

For ease of reference, the Tribunal published a consolidated version of the 2020 Determination, incorporating changes made by the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Annual Adjustment Determinations.
