2024 Determination of remuneration bands for executives employed in prescribed public entities

On 19 December 2024, and in accordance with section 19 of the Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal and Improving Parliamentary Standards Act 2019 (Vic) (VIRTIPS Act), the Tribunal made the Remuneration bands for executives employed in prescribed public entities (Victoria) Determination No. 01/2024 (2024 Determination).

The Determination has been backdated to take effect from 1 July 2024.

On 19 December 2024, the Tribunal also made updated Victorian Public Entity Executive Remuneration Guidelines (PE Guidelines), which support public service employers in placing executives within the remuneration bands. The updated Guidelines should be read together with the Determination in effect at the time.

Consultation process

The Tribunal carried out stakeholder consultation to support the making of the Determination.

On 17 July 2024, the Tribunal published notice of its intention to make the Remuneration bands for executives employed in prescribed public entities (Victoria) Determination No. 01/2024.

The notice of intention called for submissions from all interested parties.

Where permission has been given by the submitter, a submission is published on the Tribunal’s website.

The Tribunal held four roundtable meetings with representatives from public entities in October 2024. Participants were nominated by the relevant portfolio department Secretary. A summary of the main themes discussed at these meetings is available below.

The Tribunal also invited executives employed in prescribed public entities to make a submission via an online questionnaire. A summary of the responses to the executive questionnaire is included in the Statement of Reasons.

The Tribunal expresses its appreciation to all those who made submissions and assisted the Tribunal in the performance of its functions, including executives who completed the Tribunal's questionnaire.
