Victoria’s TAFE institutes are established under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (the Act). By the Act, the Minister and the governing body of each institute exercise specific powers about governance. TAFE institutes are also subject to the Public Administration Act 2004.
Ministerial directions
Ministerial directions and guidelines may be issued by the Minister to clarify the management, reporting and other responsibilities of TAFE institute boards, and to give direction about the employment of staff, the charging of fees or other specific matters. Executive memoranda may also be issued to support the directions.
