Message from the Minister for Education

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2024 Victorian Education Excellence Awards.

This is the 23rd year these awards have taken place. As always, they’re an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the innovation, outstanding achievements and the hard work across our schools.

They recognise diligence, dedication and extraordinary talent.

What’s remarkable is the breadth of excellence across the state.

Every one of us has a teacher who inspired us, who believed in us, and who went the extra yard for us.

From regional Victoria to inner city Melbourne, and from our primary schools to our secondary schools, these awards recognise those teachers.

But they do so much more.

They acknowledge the support staff who give our students every possible opportunity to learn and to thrive.

They recognise the innovative teaching programs, the dedicated principals and the business managers who are so pivotal to the effective functioning of our schools.

Crucially, they also recognise the staff and programs that are fostering more inclusive and respectful schools.

Indeed, they reflect the system wide improvements to diversity, cultural safety and support for students with additional needs, particularly for Koorie students.

As Education Minister, I take great pride seeing so many highly skilled and committed people who are fostering a love of learning and delivering a world class education.

I commend every one of our finalists and wish you all the best for the awards.

On behalf of all parents, students and Victorians, I congratulate you, I value your work and I thank you for everything you do.

Hon Ben Carroll MP

Deputy Premier
