Program description
The Partnerships with Families Professional Learning Bundle explores the importance of partnerships with families and how these underpin inclusion, learning and development. The Bundle is a collection of professional learning materials including online learning modules and Early Childhood Australia printed publications to support educators in building knowledge and contemporary practices around partnerships with families in the early years.
The Bundle includes:
- Partnerships with families (online learning module)
- Partnerships with families for inclusive practice (online learning module)
- Families: Where learning begins (Early Childhood Australia publication)
- Supporting the wellbeing of parents and carers (Early Childhood Australia publication)
- Working in partnership with families facing adversity (Early Childhood Australia publication).
The Bundle, explores a range of topics including:
- what is desirable in relationships between educators and families and how each partnership is unique,
- why children’s wellbeing is the focus of the relationship,
- how partnerships with families and caregivers underpin young children’s inclusion, learning and development,
- how different service types approach partnerships with families,
- how educators and parents can recognise and work with differences, especially those related to knowledge and expertise, and
- implement practical strategies for supporting the development of positive relationships.

Implementation considerations
- Target Population: educators.
- Program adaptability: the Bundle can be extended and scaled up depending on the size of the early childhood service, the number of educators or how the service intends to use the Bundle.
- Staffing: services should consider the cost of backfill in determining the cost of accessing this resource.
- Tools and systems: Services will need access to a PC with reliable internet access to access the online learning modules. Supported operating systems include Windows and Mac OSX. Javascript and PDF Viewer are also required to access the online learning modules and print the certificate.
