Learning and development
Graduates undertake a learning and development journey that builds on their skills to support their work in the public service. This is done through:
A day in the life of a graduate
When asked what a typical day looks like in the program, each of our graduates gave a different answer. There were some common themes in their responses. Our graduates said they spent time:
- creating a daily to-do list of tasks and actions
- solving problems both at a strategic policy level and on practical tasks
- examining situations and asking questions to grow their understanding
- working with their manager to focus their efforts and set their work plan
- getting to know their colleagues to build connections while working on projects
- researching and writing reports and correspondence
- participating and facilitating meetings
- learning through online training and workshops
- having lunch with peers
- engaging with stakeholders and clients.
Each graduate’s experience is unique to their role, department, supervisor and projects.
