We will be working to widen the northern end of Hampstead Road from Monday 12 August to Friday 20 September to allow for the installation of new tram tracks in November.
There will be various road and lane closures throughout the area at times as we complete these works.
Detours will be in place for drivers and pedestrians, as well as changes to bus routes 215, 406 and 408. Please allow extra time when travelling through the area. See inside for more information about changes to how you travel.

Changes to how you travel
Hampstead, Williamson and Wests roads intersection impacts
8pm to 6am Monday 12 August to Friday 16 August
The intersection and sections of Hampstead, Williamson and Wests roads will be closed from 8pm to 6am each night from Monday 12 August to Thursday 15 August.
- Hampstead Road will be closed between Wattle and Williamsons roads.
- Access to businesses at 98-108 Hampstead Road will be maintained via Williamson Road
- Access to Waterford Gardens businesses and Cavalry Circuit will be maintained via Williamson and Wests roads.
Traffic detours will be in place via Mitchell and Rosamond roads or via Ballarat Road and Gordon Street. Properties on Alders Street can be accessed via Wattle Road.
Bus routes 215, 406 and 408
Tuesday 13 August to Thursday 15 August
Detours will be in place for the route 215, 406 and 408 buses including the Route 406 night network service, from first service Tuesday 13 August to last service Thursday 15 August.
Selected bus stops on Hampstead and Williamson roads between Rosamond Drive and Mitchell Street will be closed.
Buses will detour around the worksite via Rosamond Drive, Emu Road and Mitchell Street.

Hampstead and Wests roads northbound impacts
6am to 8pm Tuesday 13 August to Friday 16 August
The intersection of Hampstead, Williamson and Wests roads will reopen from 6am to 8pm each day from Tuesday 13 August to Friday 16 August with some lane closures in place:
- The northbound lanes on Hampstead Road will be closed between Wattle Road and Williamson Road.
- The northbound lanes on Wests Road will be closed between Williamson Road and Cavalry Circuit.
- On-street parking will be temporarily removed on Williamson Road between the intersection and Blair Street.
Northbound traffic can detour via Hampstead, Emu and Rosamond roads. Southbound access will be maintained on Hampstead and Wests roads.
Pedestrian impacts
The pedestrian crossings across Hampstead and Wests roads will be closed with detours in place.

Hampstead Road lane closures
Friday 16 August to Monday 26 August
Northbound traffic on Hampstead Road will be reduced to one lane between Wattle and Williamson roads, 24 hours a day from Friday 16 August to Monday 26 August.
Traffic will be maintained in both directions.
Pedestrian impacts
- The pedestrian crossing between Hampstead and Williamson roads will be temporarily closed.
- A section of the southern footpath on Williamson Road will be closed.
Williamson and Wests roads lane closures
Tuesday 27 August to Friday 27 September
The following changes will be in place 24 hours a day from Tuesday 27 August to Friday 20 September as we work on the corner of Williamson and Wests roads:
- The left-hand eastbound lane on Williamson Road will be closed between Cavalry Circuit and Wests Roads
- The left-hand northbound lane on Wests Road will be closed between Williamson Road and Cavalry Circuit.
- Footpaths on Williamson and Wests roads will be closed with pedestrian detours in place.
