General Government

GGB operates as a project advisory team and loan funding mechanism to enable government agencies to save money and meet their sustainability targets.

GGB operates as a project advisory team and loan funding mechanism to enable government agencies to save money and meet their sustainability targets.

The GGB team can provide advice and guidance on how to identify energy efficiency solutions for projects, how to run these projects, or guide you through an Energy Performance Contract.

GGB can also provide loans to agencies who cannot fund the project themselves. Projects must be linked to energy efficiency or renewable energy and meet the 5-year repayment period.

If agencies have funding available, they can also co-fund projects with a GGB loan to either reduce the amount of savings shared with GGB, or to increase the payback period of the project so more solutions can be included!

$20 million in funding available each year

No set limit on loan size

Loans are first come first serve while annual budget is available

How to start a project

Contact GGB Team

  • We’ll help you identify any opportunities for energy efficiency or renewable energy projects and check if you’re eligible for loan funding if required

Submit a Project Plan and Reserve Funding

  • Next, send us a letter from a suitable financial delegate with an attached signed project plan or business case

Energy Audit/Energy Performance Contract

  • Once the project plan is approved, engineers are engaged to provide solution quotes and proposals

Apply for Loan

  • If you’re happy with the quote/proposal and it meets a 5-year payback, apply for the loan via the GGB team

Install Solutions

  • When you receive the loan, install the solution and complete the project, informing us of progress and milestones

Measure and Verify Savings

  • Finally, measure the savings being generated by the solution to verify the promised savings are being delivered

Loan Repayment Example

Loan repayments commence one year after practical completion of the project and are made with the savings generated by the project. A $5 million project is expected to generate $1 million in savings each year. For the 5 year repayment period 100% of savings will go to the Greener Government Buildings program. From year 6 onwards the savings are spit 50/50 between the agency and the GGB program.
