About child protection work
As a child protection practitioner, you’ll have an opportunity to make real change in communities, keeping children safe and families strong. It’s a challenging role, but a privilege to be involved in a family’s life, working with them to achieve good outcomes and enact change. You’ll be well supported as you work with others to make decisions that benefit the lives of children and families.
In this field, you will call on and develop your personal skills including complex problem solving, critical and analytical thinking, finding creative solutions and working well under pressure. You will develop a unique team spirit as you collaborate with your colleagues towards a common goal.
While there is need for therapy-based skills, a lot of the case work involves statutory investigation, analysis and critical thinking.
