Leann Jean Edwards:
Hello. My name is Leann Jean Edwards and this is my book, "Emus Under the Bed."
On Saturdays I visit my Auntie Dollo.
Come in, Auntie's girl, she says. Do you want to help me make some feather flowers?
Auntie Dollo has all kinds and colours of feathers.
She has feathers from moorhens, magpies, galahs and cockatoos.
See, this one comes from a guinea fowl, and these ones I got from a tawny frogmouth, Auntie Dollo says.
She shows me how to arrange them together and wrap cotton around them to fix them to the wire.
Time for lunch, hey? says Auntie Dollo. We make some damper out the back with Uncle Rex and sit under the gum trees.
Look at me! I say. Beautiful!, says Auntie Dollo. And now I've got a surprise for you.
What are those scratchy noises, Auntie?
You'll see. Just climb up on the bed and pull up the quilt.
Waah! There they are, six little emu chicks under the bed.
I've had the best day. I love my Auntie Dollo.
