you see families pretty much at their
worst times often and you know working
with them to make the situation safe
again it can be really really rewarding
and very
fulfilling my name is Lena and I work in
child protection when I first started I
was in general response so that's a team
where we take in new intakes about
children and go and investigate them
from there I moved over to case
management I came back to investigation
but in the sexual abuse team it's in the
say it team so in that role we
investigated with Victoria Police cases
of sexual abuse and also cases where
people who are convicted of sexual
offenses against children when they have
contact with other children we also
determine whether that contacts
appropriate or not my role is to
interview the children interview the
parents and find out what's actually
occurring in the home and what we can do
to make the the home environment safe
again for the children I guess being the
voice and being that mouthpiece for
children and young people is so
important you really can't get bored
here and I guess having those constant
conversations with your team manager
during supervision about where you want
to go what areas interest you there are
always succumbs in a range of different
teams you need to be able to be
empathetic of family situations and not
to be judgmental and it can be really
fulfilling to see a face through to
completion and to work with families
really really closely when I you know
meet someone new or you know am
introduced to someone who I'm so proud
to to tell them what what I do for a job
