New Year of Learning Prep Questions from parents

[Male speakers off camera]

I’m rolling. Yep. And action!

[Female Teacher]

Does my child need to know how to read or write before they start Prep?

A blanket answer? No they don't. If they do, that's so fabulous. We want them to

enjoy being at school and just want to have a willingness to learn. But needing to be able to read and write is definitely not a prerequisite for school.

What is the best way to contact a teacher?

Most primary school teachers are always here before the bell and we're definitely here straight after the bell. So if you've got a question that's pretty quick and easy, we could definitely answer it by coming straight up and speaking to us either before or after school. If you've got a more complex question that you'd like answered in detail, sending us an email is usually the best way. Or leaving a voicemail at the office so that we can give you a call back as soon as we're free.

What about birthday parties? Do you have to invite the whole class?

This is definitely not a blanket rule of you need to invite anybody to your child's

birthday parties. However, if you need support to be able to decide who your child's friends with or names of students that they might like to invite, as a classroom teacher we can definitely help with that.

We're more than happy to provide some names for you and then help your child

hand out those invitations discreetly if needed to those friends that they would like to invite to their birthday parties. If you want to invite the whole class, we're also more than happy to help facilitate that too.
