Meet Sahay - Scholarship recipient and Early Childhood Teacher
Sahay: My name is Sa Hay Moo Soe.
And I'm, very proud kindergarten teacher here at Victoria University Werribee Campus.
And I've been here for about, three years now.
I was born in a refugee camp in the border of Burma and Thailand in a very small camp.
And I've lived in for 16 years.
Being in the camp, like, I never thought that I would be here where I am today.
Now when I was little, like, I've always dreamed of, you know, going to uni and all that.
But coming here, it was a huge change, but also, you know, for better.
In year 12, I did a work experience and then I was placed at a, an early child centre.
And I had this teacher, she was really good, like, you know, she was, she was telling me all about it.
And at that time, I wasn't sure which direction I wanted to go, but I knew that I wanted to be a teacher.
After year 12 I, you know, look into the course
and find, do my research. And then that's how my journey of becoming an early child teacher start from there.
Before, I like, start study, I needed and like, support financially.
So I looked into scholarships and I found that through the department
website and I applied for it and receiving that, it took a huge stress off me.
And it just helped a lot. Yeah. You know, it is, like, if you ask anyone who works in this setting, they would tell you it's a very, you know, rewarding job.
And it is, it is a very rewarding job.
You will look back your day and there's always going to be a moment where, one moment when you know your heart is full, where you're happy, you know you're glad that like you are their teacher. Yeah.
