Mary-Ellen, Psychologist
When you work with a client who has experienced trauma or thoughts of suicide, and when you see their first glimmer of hope or change, that's a really fulfilling part.
I'm a psychologist and a clinical psychology registrar working at Alfred Mental and Addiction Health. I really like working in public mental health because you work with a range of clients from all across the community.
What inspires me to come in every day would be that there is that opportunity to make a difference in someone's life.
I'd encourage anyone considering a career in mental health to find out more information about the skills and qualifications that they need.
It's a career where you can really make a difference.
