Hello, My name is Kate Frost
I'm going to read you the story called "My Dog Bigsy' written by Alison Lester
Are you ready?
This is my dog, Bigsy
Here is a waggy tail
This patch look like Tasmania shape
Here's clickety clickety claws
This is a l-o-n-g body (Bigsy's dad is a sausage dog)
I see five brown patches
These are silky ears that I love to play with
He has a wet black nose
He has a special scratching spot
They are crooked front legs.
He sleeps on my bed every night and he hardly makes a sound.
But when Dad lets him out in the morning,
I hear him barking all around the farm.
Woof woof woof!
He chases the cockatoos out of the orchard.
Squawk! Squawk!
Screech! Squawk!
I hear the cockies flying away.
Bow! Wow!
Bow wow wow!
He sends the kangaroos back over the fence.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
That’s the kangaroos bouncing down the hill.
Wuff, wuff!
Now Bigsy’s talking to the horses.
Neigh! Whinny! Snort!
The horses say, ‘Good morning, Bigsy.’
Ruff! Ruff ruff!
Ruff ruff ruff!
Bigsy’s herding the ducks into the dam.
Quack! Quack quack!
Quack quack quack!
I hear the ducks complaining.
Yap! Yap, yap, yap!
He runs around the cows, but they don’t move.
Moo! Mooooooo!
The cows think Bigsy’s funny.
Yip! Yip!
Yip! Yip, yip!
He spooks the sheep.
Baa! Baa! Baa! Baa!
I bet those sheep are running away.
Naughty Bigsy!
Yow! Ow! Yelp! Help!
Patchy Pig’s not scared of Bigsy!
Oink! Oink!
Squeak! Squeak! Oink!
She’s really telling him off.
Arrf! Arrf!
Bigsy asks the hens how many eggs they’ve laid.
Cluck! Cluck! Cluck!
Errr... Errr...
The hens don’t know.
Squeak! Squeak!
Now he and Slinky are playing with their rubber shark.
Oof! Woof! Thump! Crash!
I hear them wrestling in Mum’s garden.
Huff, huff, huff!
Bigsy’s at the back porch.
Flip! Flap! Flip! Flap!
That’s how he says hello to Mr Cat.
Purr, purr. Meow.
‘I love you, Bigsy,’ says Mr Cat.
WOOF!
Bigsy says, ‘Let me in!’
Creak...
I hear Dad opening the door.
Crunch, crunch.
Bigsy is eating his breakfast,
Slurp, slurp, slurp.
and having a big drink of water.
Clickety click,
clickety click.
I know who’s coming down the hallway . . .
Bigsy!
Wiggle, wiggle, sigh.
He snuggles under my doona.
Yawn!
It’s time for me to get up now, but Bigsy’s exhausted!
Sleep tight, Bigsy.
