Man convicted and fined over firewood incident at Mt Disappointment

An Eltham North man was convicted and fined $750 in Seymour Magistrates Court last week after being found guilty of obstructing a Conservation Regulator authorised officer.

The incident occurred in the Mount Disappointment State Forest during a firewood patrol conducted under Taskforce Ironbark. 

 The Conservation Regulator and Parks Victoria are cracking down on illegal firewood theft from Victoria’s public land through Taskforce Ironbark.

The Taskforce aims to disrupt the illegal firewood trade and minimise impacts on the health of our parks, forests and reserves.  

 If you suspect someone might be selling firewood illegally, or illegally cutting and removing firewood from public land, we urge you to make a report by calling us on 136 186.  Reports can be made anonymously.
