Jennifer Morris

Jen is one of Australia’s most respected and prolific patient advocates. She survived multiple near-fatal healthcare system failures. She has now dedicated her life to ending the tragedy of death and suffering caused by patient harm in healthcare. Jen’s fierce advocacy brought patient harm out of the shadows. Today it is well and truly in the national spotlight.

Jen shows the healthcare system the truth about itself from a patient and community perspective. By doing this, she compels people in all parts of the system to do more to keep patients safe. This includes health professionals, students, regulators, educators, professional organisations and governments.

Jen’s sharp intelligence and expertise in patient safety have seen her break new ground for patient advocacy. For example, she was the first person in Australia from a lived experience background to lead patient safety investigation teams.

To make patients safer, Jen has “done it all”. She has made decisions and given advice on boards and committees. She has lifted others up as an educator and mentor. She has grown knowledge as a researcher and investigator. She has also changed hearts and minds through the media, writing and public speaking.
