Until his recent retirement, David Rayner OAM spent almost 40 years in the automotive restoration industry for which he has great passion. He was the director and general manager of Rare Spares Pty Ltd.
Rare Spares began in the early 70s in a suburban Melbourne basement and has since become the largest restoration car parts supplier in the Southern Hemisphere. The company employs over 60 staff and supports a broad network of distributors throughout Australia and New Zealand. Expanding from simply being a parts supplier, Rare Spares also manufactures new parts for classic cars to help keep historic vehicles on the road and out of the scrapheap.
David has always been a firm believer of fulfilling a service to the community as a business owner. As a business leader, he actively sought to employ people from diverse backgrounds and encouraged his staff to pursue opportunities through education. He likewise spent more than two decades assisting and contributing to several charities including Rotary, Life Education and Variety.
