A true servant to the people of Victoria, Barry spent over two decades in the public sector before being elected to the Victoria Parliament in 1982.

During his time in Parliament, he was a tireless advocate for the underprivileged, ensuring that their voices were heard and their needs addressed.

He served in multiple Ministerial portfolios throughout his career, consistently demonstrating a deep commitment to public service and the betterment of Victorian communities.

Even after retiring from Parliament in 1999, Barry’s dedication to supporting the communities he served never wavered.

His contributions to community welfare and his efforts in championing civil liberties will be remembered and celebrated.

The State Funeral Service was an opportunity for Victorians to pay tribute to Barry’s life of service to Victoria and community.
