Wage Inspectorate Commissioner recognised for achievements and dedication to public service

Wage Inspectorate Victoria Commissioner Robert Hortle has been named as an IPAA Victoria 2024 Fellow, one of the most prestigious honours in the public purpose sector.

IPAA Fellowships celebrate “the exceptional dedication and sustained commitment of individuals who have demonstrated ethical leadership and made significant, positive contributions to Victorian communities.

Robert is an accomplished government executive with over 20 years’ regulatory experience.

Appointed as the inaugural Commissioner of Wage Inspectorate Victoria, he led development of its Strategy and Outcomes Framework, implementation of Australia’s first criminal wage theft laws and the transition to new risk-based child employment regulation.

Previously, as Director at the Department of Premier and Cabinet, he oversaw the rollout of compliance functions for owner driver and forestry contractor laws and new long service leave legislation.  

Robert previously held senior executive and leadership positions as a regulator in the Commonwealth public service, including compliance, education, policy and corporate services roles.

Congratulations also to Robert and the other IPAA 2024 Fellows.
