Aunty Rochelle Patten is a Yorta Yorta artist and cultural practitioner. She is a local champion in law and justice, arts and culture, and in respect of environmental issues.

Aunty Rochelle's art practice includes:

  • 2021 Melbourne ART TRAM
  • 2021 Bunjilaka TwoStrong Sisters exhibition
  • the 2023 Banyule Award for Works on Paper ($10,000 acquisitive award), with Katie Howard.

On justice and rights Rochelle volunteers to sit on the Shepparton Koori Court, which started more than 20 years ago.

Her work with women in local and cultural settings spans the country. It has involved women and First Nations communities nationally and internationally.

Aunty Rochelle is frequently asked to represent her people in ceremonial matters on Yorta Yorta country and more widely. She was a local champion for the 2023 referendum Yes vote. She continues to advocate for the rights of her people, particularly for women and young people, in everything she does.
