Project overview
We’re building a new tram maintenance and stabling facility for Melbourne’s new next-generation G Class trams on part of the 61 – 71 Hampstead Road site in Maidstone.
The accessible, comfortable, and energy-efficient next-generation G Class trams will start testing on the network from 2025. The new trams will service routes 57, 59 and 82.
The project has extended the local tram line on Hampstead and Williamson roads to connect trams to the facility on Hampstead Road.
The first G Class trams are expected to begin testing on the network in 2025 and will roll out on routes 57, 59 and 82.
Works progress
The intersection of Hampstead, Williamson and Wests roads is now open following works to install new tram tracks, overhead poles, wiring and kerbing.
The intersection has been changed which may affect how you travel through the area.

Design of the Maidstone facility
